Keith Horne was in a three-way share of the lead on Thursday after the first round of the Legends Tour’s JCB Championship 2023 at JCB Golf & Country Club in Uttoxeter, England with his opening four-under-par 68.
Horne had a quiet opening nine after starting his round on the 10th, and he made a birdie an a bogey to turn in level-par. Birdies on one, three, four and eight rounded out his good scoring on his homeward nine, and he was in a share of the lead with Phillip Golding of England and Australia’s Rod Pampling. They were a shot clear of Peter Baker of England and Jeev Milkha Singh of India.
Ernie Els opened with a one-under, James Kingston had a four-over-par 76 as did Chris Williams, and Adilson Da Silva was also on four-over.
