Keith Horne was the best of the South Africans after the first round of the Legends Tour Qualifying School-Final Stage at Gloria Golf Resort in Belek, Turkey on Friday.
Horne carded a one-under-par 71 in an up-and-down round which had six birdies and five bogeys. He was in a share of 13th, three shots off the lead. There were three players on four-under-par 68 – England’s David Shacklady and Simon Griffiths and Carl Suneson of Spain. There were two players on three-under and seven on two-under. Horne shared 13th with nine other players.
Doug McGuigan, playing under the Scottish flag, opened with a three-over 75 and was in a share of 47th.
South Africans Henk Geldenhuys, the amateur, and Callie Swart were on five-over in a share of 64th.
