A hot closing stretch on Wednesday gave Keegan MacLachlan his third Bushveld Tour title of the season as he won the TrueSport TV #2 at Irene Country Club by five strokes.
After an opening round of eight-under-par 64 in the 36-hole tournament, MacLachlan closed with an eagle-three on 17 and birdie-three on 18 to pull decisively clear of Drikus Joubert, who made pars all the way in from the 15th. In the end, while Joubert was just one stroke back at the 15th, he was five down at the end as he finished runner-up.
Sharing runner-up honours was James Wiltshire, who closed with an eight-under 64 after his opening level-par 72. Ricky Hendler was fourth on seven-under after a closing two-under 70.
After two tournaments in the three-tournament series, MacLachlan heads the Order of Merit from the winner of the first tournament, Benjamin Follett-Smith.
