Casey Jarvis aced the sixth hole on Saturday in the third round of the PGA Tour’s Barracuda Championship on his way to a seven-under-par 64 and 16 points in the combined stableford format tournament at the Old Greenwood course at Tahoe Mountain Club in Truckee, California.

Jarvis made an ace at the 210-yard par-three sixth hole. He recorded five points for his eagle one in the modified stableford format which gives two points for birdies and subtracts one for bogeys. That pushed Jarvis’ total to eight points on the day (he had recorded two birdies and a bogey to that point). He holds 33 points into Sunday’s final round, well within striking distance of the lead.

“I just stepped on an eight-iron,” Jarvis said of his ace. “Was trying to hit it centre of the green, kind of just left of the centre. It pulled a little and kind of pitched just right of the hole and went in.”

Jarvis qualified for the Barracuda Championship via his position on the DP World Tour’s season-long Race to Dubai, on which he currently stands at 70th. This week marks his third career PGA Tour start, having previously missed the cut at this year’s US Open and ISCO Championship. Jarvis finished second on the 2023 Challenge Tour season-long standings, a year after turning pro, to earn 2024 DP World Tour membership. He currently stands at 315th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Mac Meissner held onto the lead following a late par-save with a tap-in birdie. Meissner had a one-point lead over Vince Whaley, reaching 39 points with 13 in the round delayed about one-and-a-half hours in the afternoon because of lightning.

Rico Hoey, coming off a play-off loss last week in Kentucky at the ISCO Championship, was third at 36 after a 15-point afternoon. Patrick Fishburn and Max Greyserman had 34 points, and Chad Ramey was a point back along with Marcus Armitage and Jarvis.

Jayden Schaper was one point behind Jarvis in a share of ninth after he added 10 points to his haul of 11 in each of the first two rounds. MJ Daffue was unable to pick up any points in his third round as he slipped to a share of 50th.
