Jarvis back with 5-under start in Euram Bank Open

Casey Jarvis came back from a little time off from action on the Challenge Tour on Thursday and opened with three straight birdies on his way to a five-under-par 65 in the first round of the Euram Bank Open at GC Adamstal in Pléneuf, Austria.

After that fast start, he made bogey on the seventh, before making three more birdies on nine, 10 and 17 as he finished the day in a share of third. He was two shots off the lead which was held by Robin Roussel of France, who had a seven-under 63 to lead Ryan Ruffels of Australia by one. Jarvis shared third with Americans Jordan Gumberg and Julian Suri.

Next best of the South Africans in the field in a share of 12th on three-under 67 was Keenan Davidse, who had an eagle, two birdies and a bogey. Brandon Stone and Dylan Naidoo were on two-under in a share of 27th and Pieter Moolman and Luke Jerling were in a share of 44th on one-under.

JJ Senekal was on level-par in a share of 68th while Dylan Mostert, Jaco Prinsloo and Yurav Premlall each carded two-over for a share of 103rd. Haydn Porteous carded a four-over 74,
