His second runner-up finish in as many weeks on the Challenge Tour saw Casey Jarvis jump 37 places on the latest Official World Golf Ranking list to 303rd, placing him 21st amongst South Africa’s in the rankings.
Jarvis started the year ranked 745th, and he has adapted to what will be his first full year as a professional with aplomb. He’s climbed to second place on the Challenge Tour’s Road to Mallorca rankings, and he’s on the verge of a maiden professional victory on that circuit having had a wonderful start to the year on the Sunshine Tour.
He’s edging closer to the world’s top 300, and, in all probability, will climb towards the top 200 after he reaches that mark. He’s within reach of overtaking JC Ritchie, currently the 20th-ranked South African on the list, who was down seven places to 294th this week.
Inside South Africa’s top 30, Garrick Higgo was one of only two players to improve his ranking, as he climbed a solid 21 places back inside the top 200 to 182nd. The other player to climb was Shaun Norris, back campaigning in Japan and up six places to 235th after his sixth-place finish there.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout remains South Africa’s top-ranked golfer at 78th, while Dean Burmester hangs on to 85th place despite his defection to LIV Golf.
