Casey Jarvis took to the modified stableford scoring system used for the qualifier for the Sunshine Tour’s Blue Label Challenge like a duck to water on Tuesday as he made nine birdies on his way to an eight-under-par 64.
That gave him 17 points and first place in the qualifier at Gary Player Country Club in the format that gives five points for an eagle, two for a birdie, none for a par, minus-one for a bogey, and minus-three for a double-bogey. The next-best players in the chase for 10 places in the Blue Label Challenge which tees off on the 15th of October were Christiaan Burke and Peter Karmis on eight points after rounds of 70 and 69 respectively.
Tristin Galant had seven points, Andre de Decker and Doug McGuigan were on six, and Therion Nel, Rhys West, Dean O’Riley and Adam Breen rounded out the qualifiers with five points.
