Casey Jarvis fired a five-under-par 67 on Thursday to be in a share of second after the first round of the DP World Tour’s Genesis Championship at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, South Korea.

Jarvis, who started his round on the 10th, had a shaky start after making birdie on his very fist hole: He followed that with a pair of consecutive bogeys, and dropped another shot on the 16th. But he had made a second birdie on the 15th, and he made another two in a row on the 17th and 18th ahead of the turn. He picked up four more on the front nine on his way home for a total of eight in a typically Jarvis kind of round.

He was one stroke behind the pace set by Ivan Cantero of Spain, who had seven birdies and a bogey in his opening 66.

Louis de Jager opened with a two-under-par 70 to be in a share of 29th, while Brandon Stone was in a share of 44th on one-under-par.

Thomas Aiken had a one-over 73, and Jacques Kruyswijk carded an opening two-over-par 74.
