Casey Jarvis will make his major championship debut after he was added to the field for the US Open Championship to be played next week at Pinehurst No. 2 course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Jarvis, 20, shot 65-72 at Walton Heath Golf Club (Old and New Courses) in England on May 20, and although he didn’t make the field directly from that performance, he was added to the field as an alternate from the England final qualifying site.

Jarvis, who turned professional in 2022, owns a pair of victories, including the 2023 Euram Bank Open on the European Challenge Tour. He also won on the Altron Big Easy Tour as an amateur in July 2022 at Kyalami Country Club.

He played with former world number one amateur and 2023 Amateur champion Christo Lamprecht in the 2019 Junior World Cup in Japan. He also captured consecutive African Amateur Stroke Play titles in 2021 and 2022.

Jarvis became just the second Sunshine Tour player to card a 59 in tournament play when he signed for that score in the third round of the 2023 Stella Artois Players Championship at Dainfern Country Club. He was the second-youngest player to have done so on one of the world’s major professional tours.

Jarvis joins Dean Burmester and Erik van Rooyen in the field representing South Africa after Lamprecht forfeited his place at Pinehurst by turning professional last week.
