Casey Jarvis might have made two bogeys on Friday, but he extended his lead to three strokes after a second round of five-under-par 67 in the Challenge Tour’s D+D Real Czech Challenge at Panorama Golf Resort in Kácov, Czech Republic.
Jarvis also made seven birdies on his way to the 36-hole lead, and he ended up on 11-under for the tournament. In a share of second on eight-under were Stuart Manley of Wales, Italy’s Andrea Pavan, Philip Mejow of Germany and Ireland’s Niall Kearney.
It was a contrast to his opening round for Jarvis, who scored well on the back nine in his first 18 holes. This time, he started on the 10th, and, although he birdies the 12th, he bogeyed the 13th and a birdie on the 18th was a sign that he was about to start picking up shots again. He made it three in a row with birdies on one and two, and another on four showed he was well and truly on the run. He was pulled up with a bogey on the fifth, but he made two in a row on the consecutive par-fives on eight and nine to round out a thoroughly dominating day.
Playing with Jarvis for the first two rounds was Jaco Prinsloo, who battled his way to a one-under-par 71 with five birdies and four bogeys. He moved to six-under for the tournament and a share of ninth heading into the weekend.
Luke Jerling climbed 39 spots on the leaderboard into a share of 12th with a four-under 68 which included an eagle on the second after he had opened with a birdie. Dylan Mostert had a level-par 72 to be in a share of 25th on three-under, while Albert Venter was on two-under after a two-under 70 put him in a share of 34th.
Jacques Kruyswijk, Keenan Davidse, Martin Vorster, JJ Senekal and Hadyn Porteous missed the cut, as did Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith.
