Casey Jarvis remained right in contention on Friday after a second round of four-under-par 68 put him in a share of second as play was suspended with just one group still on course in the DP World Tour’s Genesis Championship in South Korea.
Jarvis moved to nine-under-par through 36 holes, and was just two strokes off the lead which was held by Byeong Hun An of Korea. An had a second round of six-under 66 as he moved to 11-under, and he led from Italy’s Francesco Laporta and Jarvis. Laporta had a seven-under 65 in the second round.
Just as he did in his first round, Jarvis made three bogeys during his second round, and there was just one less birdie as he made seven of those – three on the front nine and four on the back.
It’s the kind of performance Jarvis needs to round out a steady but unspectacular year on the DP World Tour: He is projected to climb 39 places to 38th on the Race to Dubai rankings, and that would get him into the Nedbank Golf Challenge as well as the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Louis de Jager had a second round of three-under-par 69 to move to five-under through the halfway mark and a share of 17th. Two shots further back, Brandon stone moved to four-under and a share of 32nd with his second-round score of two-under-par 70.
Jacques Kruyswijk and Thomas Aiken missed the cut.
