Luke Jerling took the title in the Bushveld Tour’s Srixon Series #2 at Glenvista Country Club on Wednesday when he birdied the fourth extra hole in a play-off to see off the challenges of two other players.

After a brilliant closing seven-under-par 65 in the final round, Jerling moved to nine-under-par for the tournament. That saw him share the top of the leaderboard with Daniel Cronje, who closed with a three-under 69 and with amateur Amilkar Bhana, who rounded out his tournament with a one-under 71.

The play-off started on the par-five 17th, and all three players made birdie there, before they all made par on the 18th. On the second time of asking on the 17th, Cronje was eliminated when he made par, and then Jerling birdied the 18th to eliminate Bhana.

“It was a nice one to win,” said Jerling, who is also a winner on the Sunshine Tour. “It’s a long winter break on the Sunshine Tour, so this tournament was perfectly timed for me to get going again after a three-week break without touching the clubs.”

Down in a share of fourth, three strokes back on six-under, were Francois van Staden and Reece McKain. Jason Froneman and Matthew Bennett shared sixth on five-under, Louis Liebenberg was eighth on four-under, and Eric Wowor and Sunshine Ladies Tour professional Cara Gorlei rounded out the top 10 on three-under-par.
