Harry Konig of England carded a four-under-par 68 on Wednesday to ease to a one-stroke victory in the Big Easy IGT Challenge Tour’s Race to Q-School #2 at Germiston Golf Club.

Having been locked together with Ricky Hendler for the lead through 36 holes, Konig overcame a double-bogey seven on the second hole in his final round, and, in the end, prevailed over last week’s winner Hendler after a tough duel over the final holes.

The pair both eagled the par-five fifth in a ding-dong battle over the opening nine, and Konig reached the turn one behind Hendler in one-under-par 35. A bogey for Hendler on the 10th made things all square. Konig edged ahead with a birdie on 11, but Hendler levelled matters with a birdie at 12. They each birdied the 13th and bogeyed the 14, and then Konig edged ahead once more with a birdie on 15. But Hendler got in front when he eagled the 16th, only to surrender the lead with a bogey on 17 while Konig made birdie.

The Englishman didn’t make a mistake on the closing par-three 18th, and ran out a one-shot winner. Slade Pickering carded a closing 71 to finish third, eight shots off the lead on six-under for the tournament. Brandon Gildenhuys was on five-under in fourth, and Kai-Alexander Brandkamp and amateur Willie Olivier shared fifth on four-under.
