Harry Konig held off all challenges on Thursday as he carded a one-under-par 71 for a one-stroke victory in the seventh tournament of the Betway Big Easy Tour held at Soweto Country Club.

The Englishman Konig went into the final round of the 54-hole tournament with a one-stroke lead over first-round leader Jaden Deltel, with Wandre Snyman and veteran Brandon Pieters in a share of third a further shot behind.

A double-bogey six on the sixth hole meant that Konig had slipped back into the clutches of Deltel, who had made a bogey on the fifth. Pieters remained two back after making bogey on the first, and another on the seventh.

But Konig birdied the 10th immediately after the turn, as did Deltel and Pieters to leave the top of the leaderboard unchanged heading down the stretch. It was only when Konig made an eagle-two on the par-four 15th that he was able to pull clear, and continue to hold off the threat from the others. He finished on eight-under-par.

Pieters closed with a two-under-par 70, and Deltel had a one-under 71 in the final round for their share of second.

Another Englishman, Joe Sullivan, finished in fourth place on six-under-par for the tournament after his closing 70, and Travis Procter had a closing 69 for his fifth place on five-under-par.

Konig climbed into second place on the Order of Merit, with Sullivan leading in first.
