Four birdies on the front nine on Thursday helped Jbe’ Kruger to a five-under-par 67 in the first round of the Asian Tour’s Black Mountain Championship at Black Mountain Golf Club in Prachaubkirikhan, Thailand.
Kruger dropped a shot on the 10th, but made two ore birdies on his way home to be in a share of 21st. He was three strokes behind a four-way share of the lead. Former touring professional turned CrossFit Games athlete Pierre-Henri Soero muscled into a share of the lead. The American carded an eight-under-par 64 along with Thailand’s CharngTai Sudsom, Liu Yanwei from China and Australian Todd Sinnott.
Also in a share of 21st was Jaco Ahlers, who started his round well with an eagle-three on the second hole. He birdied the third before dropping a shot on the fifth as he turned in two-under-par. He made three more birdies on the back nine without dropping another shot.
Ian Snyman also started well, carding a four-under-par 68 to be in a share of 34thm together with Zimbabweans Scott and Kieran Vincent.
David Meyers opened with a two-under-par 70, and was in a share of 84th ahead of the second round.
