Jbe’ Kruger came through the field on Sunday with a five-under-par 65 to claim a share of 12th in the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club.
Kruger closed with four consecutive birdies from the 15th, after starting with a birdie on the first, and a bogey on the second. He didn’t make any headway again until he picked up a shot on the 13th. Then he went on his finishing spree, and ended up on nine-under-par for the tournament.
He was 10 strokes behind the man who led from start to finish, Abraham Ancer of Mexico. Ancer closed with a two-under 68 to finish two clear of Cameron Young of the United States. Australia’s Lucas Herbert was third, a further two shots back on 15-under.
Kruger shared 12th with, amongst others, Charl Schwartzel. The 2011 Masters champion finished with a four-under 66. One shot further back on eight-under was Hennie du Plessis after a closing one-under 69. Ian Snyman and Louis Oosthuizen were in a share of 28th a closing 68 and 69 respectively.
Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was on four-under for the tournament in a share of 42nd after he closed with a one-under 69.
