Kruyswijk inside top 20 at halfway mark of Bahrain Championship

Jacques Kruyswijk got himself into the top 20 on Friday with a four-under-par 68 in the second round of the DP World Tour’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Kruyswijk, who started his round on the 10th, made three birdies and a bogey ahead of his turn, and then two more birdies on the front nine as he moved into a share of 19th on five-under-par at the halfway stage ahead of the weekend.

He was eight strokes behind the leader, Callum Tarren of England, who added a five-under 67 to his opening 64 to move to 13-under. Tarren was two strokes clear of Italy’s Andrea Pavan and England’s Dan Brown who shared second on 11-under-par.

One stroke behind Kruyswijk, in a share of 29th, was George Coetzee, who signed for a second successive two-under-par 70. Also in 29th was Casey Jarvis, who had a four-under 68 to make the weekend. It was a round of six birdies and a double-bogey for Jarvis.

Louis de Jager and Deon Germishuys were on three-under in a share of 43rd after rounds of two-under 70 each.

Dylan Frittelli, Brandon Stone, Ryan van Velzen, Jayden Schaper, Thomas Aiken, Richard Sterne and Derren Fichardt all missed the cut.
