Jacques Kruyswijk left himself with a look-in chance of finishing in the top 20 on Saturday as he carded a third-round of two-under-par 70 in the DP World Tour’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
At seven-under-par for the tournament, he was in a share of 22nd ahead of the final round after he made four birdies and two bogeys on moving day. That put him six strokes off the lead which was held at 13-under-par by halfway leader Callum Tarren of England.
Tarren had a third round of level-par as he battled through three bogeys with three birdies on his card and he ended the day at just one clear of four players. On 12-under in a share of second were first-round leader Brandon Robinson Thompson of England, Italy’s Francesco Laporta, Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal and another Englishman in Dan Brown.
Next best of the South Africans left after the cut was Casey Jarvis, who had a 71 in the third round ro move to five-under and a share of 27th.
Deon Germishuys and George Coetzee were in three-under in a share of 39th after rounds of 72 and 73 respectively, and Louis de Jager had a two-over 74 to slip to a share of 55th on one-under-par.
