Three bogeys on his back nine on Thursday saw Christo Lamprecht slip to a four-under-par 67, but a closing birdie helped him into a share of 12th after the first round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship at The Club at Indian Creek in Omaha.
Lamprecht is looking for a strong finish to the season on the Korn Ferry Tour to get inside the top 20 on the points list to ensure promotion to the PGA Tour. He is currently 31st, and, in his current position, is projected to climb to 29th – so he is looking for few bogeys in his remaining rounds.
At 12-under, he was in a share of 12th with, amongst others, compatriot MJ Daffue, four strokes off the lead. On eight-under, American Peter Kuest led by one from Thailand’s Runchanapong Youprayong. There were three players on six-under in a share of third, and six in a share of sixth on five-under. Lamprecht and Daffue shared 12th with 10 other players.
Barend Botha was the other South African in the field, and he was in a share of 39th on two-under-par 69.
