A late double-bogey on Sunday cost Christo Lamprecht a shot at his maiden Korn Ferry Tour title, but he managed to finish runner-up in the Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard at Country Club de Bogota in Colombia.

The former world number one amateur had started his final round with a bogey, but five birdies had seen him by the time he had reached the 13th. The double-bogey 14 saw him slip away, and a birdie on the 16th was not enough to get back to the front.

Kyle Westmoreland earned his first Korn Ferry Tour title carding a final-round one-under 70, one stroke clear of Pierceson Coody and Lamprecht. It’s the first PGA Tour-sanctioned victory on any tour for Westmoreland, 33, the former active-duty Air Force Captain. Westmoreland held full-time PGA Tour status in 2022-23, but lost his card after struggling in his rookie season.

The victory puts Westmoreland in a position to return to the PGA Tour next year. Westmoreland is now number three on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. The top 20 after the Korn Ferry Tour Finals this fall will earn a PGA Tour card.

For Lamprecht, it the best result of his professional career and second top 10 of the year. His previous one came when he finished fourth in the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic. In 10 starts last season, he posted one top-10 finish.

Behind him, Barend Botha just missed out on a top-10 finish after posting a closing one-under 71. That took him to 12-under and a share of 13th.

Garrick Higgo also had a closing 70 and was on 10-under in a share of 26th.
