Christo Lamprecht has started his inevitable upward trend on the Official World Golf Ranking list after his share of fifth on the Korn Ferry Tour last week in The Ascendant in Berthoud, Colorado.
Lamprecht turned professional as the world’s number one-ranked amateur, and he missed the cut in his first three tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour, which saw him slip to 1,696th on the official lists.
But, eventually, he had a good week and he rocketed 735 places up the list to 961st. When one considers that the man who pipped him to the post as the sole graduate from PGA Tour University to the PGA Tour, Michael Thorbjornsen, is in 231st, we can only hope that Lamprecht continues the upward trend he has started with similar speed.
Lamprecht is not yet inside the official list of South Africa’s top 25 players, and the biggest climb from someone on that list this week was from Jacques Kruyswijk. He was up 12 places to 363rd after a share of 31st in the PGA Tour-DP World Tour co-sanctioned event in Kentucky, the ISCO Championship.
Ahead of the Open Championship, Christiaan Bezuidenhout remains South Africa’s top-ranked player, slipping one spot to 43rd after withdrawing from last week’s Scottish Open
