Christo Lamprecht’s brilliant third round of six-under-par 65 on Saturday took him to a share of third in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Woodhouse at The Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, Nebraska.
And if he can maintain or improve his position, he will take a big step towards earning a PGA Tour card: He is currently projected to climb from 31st to 22nd on the Korn Ferry Tour rankings. Lamprecht is looking for a strong finish to the season to get inside the top 20 to ensure promotion.
Lamprecht made four birdies on his front nine in the third round, dropping the only shot of his round on the par-three fifth. He made three more birdies on the back nine without dropping another stroke, and, at 14-under-par for the tournament, was just one stroke off the lead.
There was a two-way share of the top of the leaderboard, with Robbie Shelton and Zach James of the United States on 15-under-par after rounds of 63 and 67 respectively. Lamprecht shared third with first-round leader Peter Kuest and Kevin Dougherty of America.
MJ Daffue was in a share of 23rd after his two-over-par 73 in the thirds round took him to seven-under through 54 holes, while Barend Botha had a one-over 72 to be in a share of 64th on one-under.
