Thriston Lawrence made two late bogeys on Saturday on his way to a one-under-par 70 in the third round of the DP World Tour’s Soudal Open at Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, Belgium.

Lawrence, who has had a tough time of it on the PGA Tour, seemed to slip back into his happy space with his opening five-under-par 66 in the first round, but as conditions have become tougher, he’s had to fight to hold things together.

He made a level-par 71 in the second round, and, although he had got to three-under through 11 holes, those late drops sent him down the leaderboard. In the end, at six-under through 54 holes, he was still inside the top 10, eight strokes behind the leader.

Ewen Ferguson of Scotland remained the man to catch at 13-under, with John Parry of England and the Netherlands’ Darius van Driel in second and third after rounds of 67 and 69 respectively.

Ferguson remains well poised to win a fourth DP World Tour title after overcoming tough conditions to card a 69, which saw his run of 41 holes without a bogey come to an end. “To be honest with you my range session was awful, it was so cold, my hands were freezing and I was hardly finding the middle of the face,” said Ferguson.

“I was thinking it was going to be a long day, which it was, but I think when you get out there and feel the kind of vibe off the people around you, and just trying to enjoy it even though the weather was bad. I just hung in there really. It wasn’t pretty, I was teeing my ball down, squishing drivers trying to find the fairway. Nothing pretty to watch but Saturday, just keep yourself in there.”

Robin Williams had a one-over 72 in the third round to head into the final round in a share of 47th at one-under. Thomas Aiken and Casey Jarvis both went two-over in the third round and were on one-under in a share of 47th and level-par in a share of 58th respectively.
