On a low-scoring day on Thursday at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, Thriston Lawrence opened the PGA Tour’s 3M Open with a bogey-free four-under-par 67 for a share of 35th after the first round.
That put him a gaping seven strokes off the lead which was held by Canadian Adam Svensson, who posted a tournament-record setting 11-under-par 60 for a two-stroked edge over his nearest opposition.
Svensson led from Sam stevens on the United States and Dane Thorbjorn Olesen. Chad Ramey of America, Germany’s Mattie Schmid and the ever-improving American Chris Gotterup shared fourth on eight-under-par.
Garrick Higgo opened with a three-under 68 and was in a share of 53rd, while Christiaan Bezuidenhout was on level-par in a share of 114th, and Erik van Rooyen battled to a four-over opening round to be down in a share of 148th.
