Thriston Lawrence stayed inside the top 10 on Saturday with a one-over-par 72 in the third round of the DP World Tour’s Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters at Valderrama in Spain.
That left him on three-under-par for the tournament, a long way back from the lead which was held by Adrian Otaegui of Spain, who posted a superb seven-under-par 64 in the third round to move to 16-under for the tournament. That put him six clear of Swede Joakim Lagergren and countryman Angel Hidalgo. Min Woo Lee of Australia was in fourth on nine-under, while Robert MacIntyre of Scotland was fifth on seven-under.
Lawrence made three birdies and four bogeys in his round. Perhaps no bogey was as frustrating as the one on 18, where he pulled his tee shot left into the trees. He hit his approach from there into the fairway 22 yards short of the pin, and was unable to get up and down to save par.
Zander Lombard made his third successive one-over-par 72, and, at three-over for the tournament, was in a share of 42nd. A shot further back was Erik van Rooyen, who also had a 72 and was in a share of 52nd. In a share of 55th were Louis de Jager and Oliver Bekker, who had rounds of 73 and 75 respectively to move to five-over for the tournament.
