Zander Lombard dropped just a single shot on Thursday on his way to a three-under-par 69 in the first round of the DP World Tour’s KLM Open at The International in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
He made three birdies on his front nine after staring his round on the 10th, and picked up another shot on the third after turning. His only bogey came on the par-five eighth, when he left his approach 35 yards short in the rough. His third landed in a greenside bunker, from which he was unable to get up-and-down to save his par.
He was in a share of 12th after the first round, for strokes off the lead which was shared by Matteo Manassero of Italy and Finland’s Mikko Korhonen. They were one clear of Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino, with four players on five-under in a share of fourth.
Darren Fichardt was on two-under-par in a share of 23rd, together with, amongst others, Casey Jarvis, Jayden Schaper, Thomas Aiken and Robin Williams.
Oliver Bekker and Ockie Strydom were on one-under in a share of 45th, while Jaco Prinsloo was in a share of 63rd on level-par.
Brandon Stone was on one-over, and Dylan Frittelli and Justin Harding were on two-over. Dylan Mostert and Jacques Kruyswijk were on five-over, with Louis de Jager down in a share of 138th on six-under with Pieter Moolman.
