Zander Lombard made it to the weekend of the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club in Virginia Water, England when he carded a second-round one-under-par 71 on Friday.
Lombard’s four birdies and three bogeys took him to three-under-par for the tournament, and a share of 39th place together with countryman Louis de Jager, who had a level-par 72. They were seven shots off the lead which was shared by Swedes Sebastian Soderberg and Ludvig Aberg at 10-under-par. The leaders were one clear of four players on nine-under, Masahiro Kawamura of Japan, Belgian Thomas Detry, Adrian Meronk of Poland end England’s Tommy Fleetwood.
Two other South Africans made the cut: Oliver Bekker and Hennie du Plessis were on two-under, which was the number, after rounds of one-under-par 71 each.
Thriston Lawrence, Justin Walters, Ockie Strydom and JC Ritchie all missed out on playing over the weekend in the DP World Tour’s flagship tournament.
