Christiaan Bezuidenhout produced the lowest closing round of the day on Sunday in the PGA Tour’s RBC Heritage at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina when his seven-under-par 64 lifted him to a share of 19th place.

His bogey-free round with seven birdies lifted him 37 places up the leaderboard, and he finished the week on 10-under-par. That was seven strokes behind the winning 17-under-par by Matt Fitzpatrick, who won on the third extra hole of a play-off with Jordan Spieth.

Bezuidenhout picked up five birdies on the outward nine, and two more on his way in, including on the closing 18th. His performance left him unchanged in 87th place on the FedEx Cup rankings, but it did signal an improvement in form as the tour moves towards the next major championship of the season, the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club.

Garrick Higgo closed with a four-under-par 67 to climb 12 places to five-under and a share of 48th. Ernie Els finished with a two-over 73 to finish two-under in a share of 56th.
