Caitlyn Macnab added a two-under-par 69 to her tally on Friday to move to five-under for the tournament in the Ladies European Tour’s Ford Women’s NSW Open at Wollongong Golf Club.

The first round got underway on Thursday morning before the horn sounded at 12:55 local time following heavy rainfall in New South Wales. Following further rainfall and with a new band of weather developing, it was decided that no further golf would be played.

Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen and Germany’s Alexandra Försterling shared the clubhouse lead after battling through brutal conditions to card rounds of two-under 69.

The resumed round saw home stars Kelsey Bennett and Hannah Reeves leading the way on six-under par.

Aine Donegan‘s first start as a LET member could not have gone better as the Irish rookie followed up an opening round of three-under 68 with a sensational eight-under 63 to soar into the lead.

Australia’s Sarah Kemp also had a day to remember posting a second round 64 to move to nine-under par, two shots back from leader Donegan.

Joint-first round leader Reeves, a regional qualifier, sits in third place on seven-under par alongside Ecuador’s Daniela Darquea who fired a second round 66.

Bennett meanwhile carded a level-par round to drop down to a share of fifth on six-under par alongside Morgane Metraux of Switzerland and Amelia Garvey of New Zealand.

Macnab had four birdies and two bogeys in her second round, and was in a share of eighth.

With half the field still to complete 36 holes, the second round of the Ford Women’s NSW Open will resume on Saturday morning at 7:30 local time.
