Keegan McLachlan opened with an eagle on Tuesday on his way to a four-under-par 68 in the second round of the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School College Sports America Series #3 at Modderfontein Golf Club.

That gave him the jump-start he needed for his round, and three birdies and a bogey saw him move to seven-under-par through 36 holes. That gave him a share of the lead with Matt Saulez, who was on top of the leaderboard after the first round at four-under.

Saulez had six birdies and three bogeys in this three-under 69, and, together with McLachlan, led by two from Josh Hilleard who was on five-under after his second-round 68. Travis Ladner and Richard Kruger shared fourth on four-under after each carded a three-under 69.

The tournament is the final in a three-event series which offers the top four on its Order of Merit paid entry fees into the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School in April. There are two more similar series scheduled on the Bushveld Tour: the Golferade Hydro Sport Series in February and the Wanna Be A Champion Series in March, both offering the same prizes.
