Alan McLean, who now plays from Canada, carded an opening four-under-par 67 on Tuesday in the first round of the PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Tournament-Final Stage at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona.

McLean’s eight birdies and four bogeys put him in a share of 10th, three shots off the lead which was shared by three players at seven-under-par. Daniel Chopra of Sweden, Micah Rudosky of the United States and American amateur Bryan Hoops had a one-stroke lead over Cameron Percy of Australia and Shane Bertsch of the United States.

Keith Horne is also trying to qualify for the lucrative senior circuit, and he opened with a two-under-par 69 for a share of 25th.

At the conclusion of 72 holes at Final Stage, the top five finishers will be exempt into all open, full-field PGA Tour Champions events in the 2024 season. There will be a play-off if needed to break ties.
