Kaiyuree Moodley dragged herself up the leaderboard on Thursday in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s Lalla Aicha Q-School in Morocco with a two-under-par 71 at the Al Maaden course in Marrakech.
With the tournament already shortened to 72 holes instead of 90, and with just the top 20 and ties qualifying for playing privileges next year, Moodley will have to keep climbing, as her 36-hole total of one-under par has her in a share of 59th.
Moodley fought hard for her score after she had opened with a one-over on the Royal Golf Marrakech course on Wednesday. She made six birdies, but dropped shots on the third and the fifth, and made a double-bogey on the par-three 12th.
Moodley, who had some experience on the LET during the course of the year, was the third-placed South African at the halfway mark.
In a share of 19th, Caitlin Macnab carded a level-par 72 at Royal Golf Marrakech. She was at five-under after her fine opening round.
Nadia van der Westhuizen was in a share of 59th with Moodley, amongst others. Van der Westhuizen had a two-over 74 at Royal Golf Marrakech.
Gabrielle Venter also went two-over at Royal Golf Marrakech, and was in a share of 77th on level-par.
Amateur Jordan Rothman had a fine three-under 69 in the second round, and was in a share of 90th on one-over.
