Pieter Moolman led 10 players into this week’s Steyn City Championship co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour and the DP World Tour with his seven-under-par 65 at Benoni Country Club on Tuesday.

Moolman shared the top of the leaderboard with Byrun Coetzee, and they were two clear of Hennie O’Kennedy and Dylan Mostert, who each carded five-under-par 67.

Moolman made eight birdies and a bogey in his round, and he finished with four birdies in his final five holes on his way to his 65. Coetzee made an eagle, five birdies and a bogey as he dropped a shot on the last.

The other players making it through were Peter Karmis and Stefan Wears-Taylor on four-under, and Combrinck Smit, Divan van den Heever, Malcolm Mitchell and Matthew Spacey who all carded three-under-par 69.
