Wilco Nienaber played his way to only his first top-10 of the HotelPlanner Tour season on Sunday with his share of second in the Dormy Open by Creekhouse at Kristianstad Golf Club, Åhus, Sweden.

Nienaber finished in a share of ninth in the Investec South African Open Championship on the DP World Tour, but his closing three-under-par 67 took him to nine-under-par for the tournament.

That was two strokes behind the winner, Christofer Blomstrand of Sweden, who closed with a three-under-par 67 of his own to edge Nienaber and another Swede, David Lundgren.

It was a good weekend for Nienaber, who signed for a bogey-free six-under-par 64 in the third round, after making a bogey and a triple in the first round for his one-under 69, and dropping four shots in the second round on his way to a one-over 71.

He was also bogey-free in his closing round, as he climbed to 87th on the Road to Mallorca. He has six more tournaments ahead of the closing Grand Final on October 29 to try and get inside the top 45 who will play that championship, and, from there, into the top 15 to gain his DP World Tour card.
