Wilco Nienaber got the job done on Thursday with an eight-under-par 63 catapulting him to his DP World Tour card as he finished the six-round marathon of the Qualifying School Final Stage in a share of fourth place in Tarragona, Spain.
Nienaber saved his best performance of the 106-hole tester for the final round, as he went bogey-free on his way to a total of 22-under-par. That put him seven strokes behind Edoardo Molinari of Italy, who was in control of things from the second round onwards. The Ryder Cup vice-captain closed with a four-under-par 67 on the Lakes Course at Infinitum Golf to finish in 29-under and one clear of Niklas Lemke of Sweden.
Davis Bryant of the United States was third on 27-under, and Nienaber’s four birdies on each of the nines had him race up the leaderboard to share fourth with Albert Boneta of Spain and Alexander George Frances of Denmark.
Justin Harding did enough with his final-round one-over-par 72 to ensure that he too will be back on the DP World Tour for the 2025 season as he finished on 19-under and in a share of 12th.
George Coetzee and Neil Schietekat were unable to do enough in the final two rounds after the 72-hole cut to lift themselves inside the top 20. Coetzee closed with a one-over 72 to finish in 75th, and Schietekat had a three-over 75 to end up in a share of 77th.
