Shaun Norris carded a superb bogey-free six-under-par 65 on Sunday to earn himself a share of second in the Japan Golf Tour’s Dunlop Phoenix Open at Phoenix Country Club in Miyazaki, Japan.

Norris climbed to 11th on the JGTO’s Order of Merit with his performance, which had three birdies on each of the nines. He shared second on 18-under-par for the tournament with Akshay Bhatia of the United States and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, four strokes behind the winner, Max McGreevy of the United States.

Playing on a sponsor’s invitation, the 29-year-old McGreevy, who led the tournament since the second round, remarkedly dropped only one shot all week and signed off with a tournament record of 22-under-par 262. It was McGreevy’s third win this season following his two triumphs on the Korn Ferry Tour.

McGreevy closed with a 69, while Bhatia and Matsuyama matched Norris with their closing 65s.

One shot back of the three-way tie for third on 17-under was Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent, who had a seven-under 64 in the final round.
