Shaun Norris bookended his round with bogeys on Thursday, but he sandwiched in seven birdies on his way to a five-under-par 65 in the opening round of the Japan Golf Tour’s The Crowns at Nagoya Golf Club in Aichi.
Norris made three birdies on the front nine and four on his homeward nine as he finished the first round one stroke off the lead which was held by Hideto Tanihara of Japan. One shot behind Norris were Ryo Ishikawa and Yuta Kinoshita of Japan and South Korea’s Young-Han Song.
Norris is ranked 32nd on the current Japan Golf Tour money list, but he’s playing in just his second tournament of the current season.
