Two bogeys on his front nine on Friday hampered Louis Oosthuizen’s start in the first round of the Asian Tour’s International Series Oman at Al Mouj Golf as he signed for a one-under-par 71.

He started his round on the 10th, and after picking up his first shot with a birdie on the 14th, he made bogeys on 15 and 16 to reach the turn in one-over 37. Birdies on five and nine saw him get back into red figures, and he was in a share of 21st behind leader Yonngu Shin of Canada. Shin had a bogey-free six-under-par 66 and led Sergio Garcia and Thailand’s Sadom Kaewkanjana by one.

Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent was inside the top 10 after his first round of two-under-par 70 saw him into a share of ninth.

Mathiam Keyser was on level-par 72 in a share of 29th, with Hennie du Plessis on one-over in a share of 45th. Branden Grace was on two-over, Jaco Ahlers and Charl Schwartzel on three-over, with Ian Snyman, Jbe’ Kruger and Neil Schietekat on four-over. Justin Harding was on nine-over.
