Louis Oosthuizen stayed right in the mix on Friday when he carded a three-under-par 67 in the second round of the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City.

He rounded things off with an eagle on the closing 18th, to go with his three birdies and two bogeys. He moved to eight-under for the tournament, three behind halfway leader Abraham Ancer, who carded a four-under 66 to move to 11-under. Ancer led by one from American Cameron Young, and Oosthuizen shared third with Marc Leishman of Australia and Korea’s Sadom Kaewkanjana.

Just two shots behind Oosthuizen was Ian Snyman, who had a two-under 68. It could have been so much better but for successive bogeys on the final two holes, but, in a share of eighth with Jason Kokrak of the United States and English veteran John Bland, he won’t be too unhappy.

In a share of 11th on five under was Jbe’ Kruger, who joined Leishman in carding the round of the day. His six-under 64 included an eagle and four birdies, without a dropped shot. Also on five-under were Hennie du Plessis after a 68, and Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe after his 69.

Branden Grace had a four-under 66 to move to three-under for the tournament and a share of 30th, together with Charl Schwartzel, who signed for a 67.

Justin Harding missed the cut, as did high-profile LIV Golf players Phil Mickelson, Hudson Swafford, Bubba Watson, Cam Smith, Chase Koepka, Kevin Na and Bryson DeChambeau in a gentle reminder of what real tournament golf entails.
