It took him 23 holes on Saturday, but Louis Oosthuizen took down Bryson DeChambeau in the semi-finals of the LIV Golf Team Championship in Miami to set up a win for the all-South African team, Stinger GC.

Oosthuizen’s win together with the foursomes – alternate shot – win for Charl Schwarztel and Hennie du Plessis, 2-up over Charles Howell III and India’s Anirban Lahiri of the Crushers GC team, trumped the win for Paul Casey over Branden Grace at the 20th hole.

It was a match that was set up by Crushers team captain DeChambeau actually choosing the South Africans as opponents in another inexplicable LIV Golf twist to normal practice.

In other semi-final action, Aces GC, Punch GC and Smash GC played their way into the finals, in which the four teams will play strokeplay with all four players’ scores to count. The South Africans will be up against the likes of Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka.
