Lee-Anne Pace closed with her best round of the tournament on Sunday as her four-under-par 68 gave her an 11th-place finish in the Ladies European Tour’s Ladies Italian Open at Golf Nazionale outside Rome.
Pace made two birdies in her first five holes in the final round, but then dropped shots on the sixth and 11th. She responded superbly with four birdies – on the 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th – to climb to five-under-par for the tournament.
Pace was five strokes off the winning total of 10-under-par by England’s Amy Taylor, who pulled off her maiden LET title by a single shot from Spain’s Maria Hernandez with her closing three-under-par 69. Three players shared third on seven-under, two strokes further back, and five players shared sixth on six-under.
Casandra Alexander closed with a one-over 73 to finish on level-par in a share of 24th. Danielle du Toit had the same third-round score to finish on three-over in a share of 45th, and Nicole Garcia was a shot further back in a share of 52nd after a closing 74.
