Nina Pegova of Russia carded a six-under-par 66 on Wednesday to take a share of the lead after the first round of the Sunshine Ladies Tour’s Jabra Ladies Classic at Glendower Golf Club.

Pegova made eight birdies and two bogeys to end up in a two-way share of the lead with Maiken Bing Paulsen of Norway. Paulsen had a bogey-free back nine, but two bogeys on the front nine saw her and Pegova lead by one from Gabriella Cowley of England.

South Africa’s Nadia van der Westhuizen and Cara Gorlei shared fourth on four-under-par 68, with former South African Women’s Open champion Tandi McCallum and Bronwyn Doeg in a share of sixth on three-under.

Stacy Bregman and Nicole Garcia opened with one-under-par 71 each, and Lee-Anne Pace had a level-par 72 for her first round of the R1-million tournament to be decided over three rounds.
