After a final round one-under-par 71 and a clutch birdie on the first play-off hole on Wednesday, Tyran Snyders claimed his first professional win in the Bushveld Tour’s Blue Label Series #3 at the Els Club Copperleaf.
After Snyders opened with a three-under-par 69, he found himself three strokes off the lead which was shared by Stals Swart and Ruan de Smidt.
Also on three-under, amongst others, was Sunshine Ladies Tour and Ladies European Tour rookie Kaiyuree Moodley. Astonishingly, Moodley was not even the best woman after the first round as Cara Gorlei opened with a four-under-par 68.
Snyders added a second 69 to his tally in the second round, and, at six-under-par through 36 holes and with one round to go, found himself two strokes behind Moodley who had hit the front with a superb five-under 67. He was also one behind Gorlei, who had added a 69 to her total to move to seven-under.
It was a tight finish as Snyders made four bogeys in the run to the finish. Moodley made five and a double as she slipped out of contention on her way to a closing three-over 75, and Gorlei made four on her way to a 75 too.
Snyders also made five birdies, and he shared the lead at seven-under with a Sunshine Tour winner, Estiaan Conradie. He managed to get the job done in the sudden-death play-off.
Moodley finished on five-under in a share of third and Gorlei was in a share of fifth on four-under-par.
