Four dropped shots in the final two holes cost Robin Williams dearly on Sunday as he slipped from a share of third to a share of 12th in the final round of the DP World Tour’s D+D REAL Czech Masters at PGA National OAKS Prague in the Czech Republic.
With five birdies through 16 holes, Williams was not going to threaten the lead of the eventual winner, David Ravetto of France, but a solid finish – with maybe just a single birdie on the par-three 17th or the par-four 18th – would possibly have even got him into second.
But he pulled his tee-shot on the long 17th – it was playing 245 yards – out of bounds left, and then he three-putted for a triple-bogey six. Unnerved, he flew the 18th green with his approach, and was unable to get up and down for par from there. He signed for a one-under 71.
In the end, 12th was a good showing, but it could have been so much better behind Ravetto, who was superb for his maiden DP World Tour title. His 23-under-par total was four shots clear of Seden’s Jesper Svensson.
In a share of 12th with Williams, amongst others, was Thomas Aiken, who closed with a three-under-par 69.
Brandon Stone had a closing four-under-par 68 to finish on 12-under in a share of 28th. Pieter Moolman finished with a one-over 73 and finished in a share of 58th on eight-under.
