Aldrich Potgieter made an eagle, seven birdies and two double-bogeys on Thursday in the opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship at The Club at Indian Creek in Omaha, Nebraska.

His resulting five-under-par 67 put him in a share of fourth, just four strokes off the lead. At the top of the leaderboard, Danny Walker of the United States carded a bogey-free nine-under 62 for a three-stroke lead over countrymen Austin Greaser and John VanDerLaan. Potgieter shared fourth with two more Americans, Trey Mullinax and TJ Vogel.

Potgieter started his round in a hurry, and teeing off from the 10th, he had made four birdies in his first eight holes. He eagled the 18th when he holed his 125-yard approach shot.

Immediately after that, he made his first double on the 10th when his drive went right into thick rough. It took him two shots to get out of it before he could play his approach, and he got it down in two putts from 34 feet. On the 11th, he dropped two more shots when he flew his approach over the green, and chipped right back over to the other side for his third. Once again, he two-putted, this time from about nine feet when he eventually made it on to the green.

MJ Daffue was two shots behind Potgieter on three-under in a share of eighth, and Christo Lamprecht opened with a level-par for a share of 49th.
