Aldrich Potgieter made a bogey on just his second hole as a professional on Thursday, but it went swimmingly after that as he made an eagle and five birdies on his way to an opening five-under-par 67 in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Compliance Solutions Championship in Norman, Oklahoma.
He closed off his first round as a professional with his second bogey on the day, but he was just three shots off the lead on a tightly packed leaderboard. The lead was shared by Rafael Campos of Puerto Rico and Argentina’s Alan Wagner at eight-under. Three players were on seven-under, and nine players were on six-under in a share of sixth.
Potgieter was in a share of 15th with his 67 with 16 other players, and there were 13 players on four-under in a share of 32nd.
His eagle came on the par-five fifth, after he had started his round on the 10th.
