Although he opened with a bogey on Saturday, and he made four more, Aldrich Potgieter still managed to sign for a one-under 69 in the third round of the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

That moved him to five-under-par for the tournament, and a share of 18th. He was eight strokes behind the lead which was shared by Ben Griffin of the United States and Mattie Schmid of Germany at 13-under. Rickie Fowler was in third, four strokes back on nine-under-par.

Griffin and Schmid matched scores for the third round in a row (66-63-68, respectively) as the wind and sun hastened the pace of the greens. Fowler made only one bogey in his three-under 67. Robert MacIntyre shared fourth with Akshay Bhatia and Nick Hardy after he shot one of three six-under 64s, the others belonging to Lucas Glover and Scottie Scheffler.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout carded a two-under 68 to climb 10 places on the leaderboard into a share of 25th on four-under-par.

Erik van Rooyen slipped after his brilliant 64 in the second round to make the cut. He made a four-over 74 and heads into the final round in 73rd on three-over-par.
