Aldrich Potgieter kept his hopes of winning a PGA Tour card for 2025 alive on Friday with a second round of one-under-par 71 in the Korn Ferry Tour Championship on the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Golf Resort in French Lick, Indiana.
After his first round of two-over-par 74, his position inside the top 30 of the Korn Ferry rankings looked under threat. It still is after his four birdies and three bogeys in the second round took him up the leaderboard into a share of 41st, as he is projected to slip from 27th on the rankings to 29th.
Potgieter needs a solid weekend to stay inside the top 30, and getting after the players at the top of the leaderboard – however far they may be ahead at this stage – is what he needs to do.
Up front is American Zach Bauchou on 10-under-par after his second round of six-under-par 66 put him four clear of countrymen Doc Redman and Frankie Capan III.
So second place is currently just five ahead of Potgieter, and the resolve he shows in going after those players will show whether he is going to be ready to step up to the PGA Tour.
