Aldrich Potgieter’s opening four-under-par 67 on Thursday was only good enough for a share of 59th after the first round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank at the Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois.
It was a day for going low as leader Ryan McCormick of the United States made two eagles and seven birdies on his way to an 11-under 60. He led by two from Paul Barjon of France, with six players in a share of third on eight-under-par 63.
Potgieter made two bogeys and a birdie on the front nine. He dropped another shot on the 14th, but that was in the midst of six birdies from the 12th to the 18th.
On an extraordinarily bunched leaderboard, Potgieter shared 59th with 30 other players.
