Yurav Premlall carded a five-under 67 as he cruised to a three-stroke victory on Tuesday in the Bushveld Tour’s 2-Day Event Series #1 at Modderfontein Golf Club.

Premlall made two eagles, three birdies and two bogeys in his second round to pull clear of runner-up Andre van Dyk. Premlall moved to nine-under for the tournament after his opening four-under-par 68, and Van Dyk closed with a one-under 71 to finish on six-under. In third was Allister de Kock, who had a closing 70 to move to five-under. Three players shared third on four-under: Dylan Naidoo, Aneurin Gounden and Samuel Simpson signed for closing scores of 71, 72 and 72 respectively.

Premlall picked up his first eagle on the very first hole to start his bid for victory early on as he chased down first-round leader, amateur Leon van der Walt, who had opened with a 65. Birdies on four and seven put Premlall in the driving seat, and his second eagle came on the eighth. That gave him the leeway to ride out the two late bogeys – on 14 and 15 – on his card, especially after he made birdie on 13.

Next week’s tournament on the circuit is at Reading Country Club from June 19-21, and it is the three-round Bushveld Series #2.
